personally, i still care about this project, but i'm not stupid. probably less than a thousand people (worldwide) still have any real use for freedos. a few oems like dell like to sell a few pcs with freedos to people who don't want to pay for a windows license because they secretly intend to load a pirated copy of xp.did you know that there's an open source project named hercules which lets you run os/390 (decendent of mvs which was decendant of mvt, an ibm mainframe os from the 1960's) on a pc? you don't care, right? freedos will be joining hercules in obscurity soon.
downloaded this program and experienced such great pain trying to download xubuntu files for almost two weeks straight, that i couldn't wait to get it off of my computer. firstly, i tried downloading the 680 mb file without torrent...it stopped several times; then i tried the torrent download--3 days later, it said it was 100% downloaded, but i also noticed lots of wasted mbs in the log files; i went to open the file and it had 27 kb. now you know i'm hot at this point! silly me, tried once more just to be fair; and waited another 24 hours for it to download, but it stopped at 89% and refused to download further. i'm not one for wasting my time and really get angry when something else does! if this works for you, great! it didn't did work for me even with all of its beautiful interface and tooted useful tools.
still no ahci support for ich9 base chipset. intel needs to stop making end users pay through the nose just to get a feature (ahci) that should be available on all core 2 motherboards ever released. there is a significant price difference between motherboards using a ich9 base chipset and motherboards using the ich9r chipset.
work great. i've used it on windows xp (32-bit), vista (32-bit), 7 (32-bit), 7 (64-bit) without any problems!
i will agree with tangentlin on all points. as the owner of two garmin gps machines, i find them very useful. (i can't let my wife outside the house without one.) but garmin can't do many of the things streets and trips can do, and google, while a great resource, cannot do many of the things that can be done with streets and trips, and those things that google can do is frequently more difficult. you get what you pay for. google is free, so if you don't want to pay for s and t, you still can do some of the things that s and t will do.that said, i was unable to download this trial of s and t, which i wanted to compare to my present 2008 version, to see if the maps in my area had been updated. ms requires "registration" and while i am reqistered with ms, the webpage the download link sent me to told me that either my email address or password was wrong. i know, of course, that the information i provided was correct. however, i notice at the bottom of the "registration" page this "we are unable to complete your request. windows live id is experiencing difficulties. please try again later." i gave this software a 4 because it is excellent (based on the 2008 version). if it were freeware, i would have given it a 5. edited addition 9/3/2009 - the website is now up and i have my copy of the 2010 version. the 2008 version has some minor mapping errors in my area. i checked and they have been fixed in the 2010 version. a missing street in my community is now on the map, as is a recently constructed and opened freeway about 30 miles from my home. my only complaint is the dark toolbar which, i believe, was added for the 2009 version. i haven't checked, but there may be a "skin" to fix that, but it is, after all, only cosmetic, and certainly not a major problem. i do recommend this software. get it at costco and save some money.
runs and works fine for me on xp sp2... actually a decent program.
again: this is not freeware !!! it's a trial version
@some guy: no, it support x64 and windows 7, see its official site here:http://easy-vpn.comodo.com/download.htmli think it's a promising vpn software and i love using it.
burningwise, burrrn does everything imgburn won't. if you need a little program to burn audiocds, look no further. and i was once again surprised by how small a great program can be!
