this is exactly what it claims to be, a light weight e-mail client for the "average" user as an adjunct to firefox. it does what it says it will very cleanly and with out a lot of bells and whistles.

i recently purchased a nifty hp pavilion dm1 notebook. it came with windows 7 64 bit and it was doing just fine. then, a few days ago i made a very stupid move and downloaded the windows 8 pre-release evaluation. what i didn't know was that once downloaded win 8 can't be removed. i tried to bring it back to factory settings, but windows 8 wiped that out, as well as all other hp programs that came with the note book. as i write, my bluetooth still doesn't work.i had to find hp drivers for my notebook to try and bring back to standard. some of them work and some don't. since my hp notebook doesn't come with a dvd optical drive i had to order one and also had to order a recovery disk from hp. as soon as these items arrive, i'll be nuking win 8 and get back to using win 7, which when you don't have it, one knows how good it was in for win 8, it has some interesting do-dads. the start screen looks like my wife's lumia and quite frankly it sucks. to me it's gimicky and a bit childish. it gets in the way of doing what you want to do do with the computer. i could go on, but i've said enough. in short, i won't be shelling out any shekels for win 8, as it already has cost me a considerable amount of money attempting to get my new notebook back to its original condition. and yes, i was stupid.

as a basic and free ftp solution, filezilla was great. i'd been using filezilla for years until around 2009 when it came to my attention there was a *gaping* security problem with it. if you're using it on a personal computer i'd say you're safe if no one ever gets at your machine (root, remote, or otherwise) but in a kiosk or public pc environment, you would be nuts to use it. filezilla's achilles heel is the fact that is stores password in *plain text* in a file called sitemanager.xml? the author had commented on why he didn't want to *fix* this problem by hashing or encrypting the passwords. he's basically said he'll never fix this problem, deal with it. yeah, no thanks. i switched to winscp for sftp stuff and never looked back. there is no excuse for passwords in plaintext in known directory/folder locations that can be readily exploited by hackers and thieves. if he ever fixes it, i will change my rating to 5 stars.

yes you can and actually need to instal both 32 and 64 bit packs to get 100% functional setup as some apps use 32bit version of codecs while others use 64bit....

i haven't tried the newest version yet -- and i probably never will.i have been a full retail registered nero user for many years, but in the last two years i have found that nero totally fails to provide any customer service or tech support for their products.all you will ever get by contacting either customer support or tech support is just the typical automated email saying they have received your request and will reply soon -- but don't hold your breath because that promised reply is never going to come.

mr. troll... why is it such a problem to install an older version that you like? i always just do that and don't update any more, at least for the time being. btw. it's simply a problem with your pc of some kind as it works great for me. never jump to conclusions so quickly. but yeah, huge majority of people wouldn't admit it's their operating system, or drivers, or some program in the background that is being problematic. i'm into computer maintenance of rather sensitive audio and video workstations for like 15 years and i know what i'm talking about. so install the perfect version that works for you and... don't be a troll. :)) this is a fabulous player that i'm using since i installed windows 2000... i never felt a need to change it. d= ;) cheers! however, i would agree that mpc and mpc-hc are playing a little weird from version to version. i was most satisfied with 1.2 and 1.4 versions. for me they started being a bit problematic since v1.5. too many features, i guess... if they kept it simple and bug-free, it would be better. we don't use 90% of the features anyway. i know i don't. i play the movie, fullscreen, close it when the film is over. what else do you need? should it make pizza for you? :)) if i was a developer i would put all my effort into getting rid of bugs. not one single feature more. being a bugless program is a greatest feature of them all. ;) 5 stars nevertheless. this is one of the 15 and a half programs i have installed on my workstation.
