not sure how well it works because it froze and then crashed my system the very first time when i was only fooling around with the settings.i'll just stick with xnview which can do this and more

the photo above is not christv lite. the lite version doesn't have a control panel. settings are made from a context menu (right click) on the screen. after testing christv pvr i was quite surprised at the extent to which the lite version has been crippled. i believe the lite version of this program is intended only as a "come on" for you to buy one of the pay versions since it has been so extensively stripped of features.feature wise, the km player and pvr are in the same ball park except for the cost. the downside is the km player doesn't have a tv setup wizard so it *will* take more effort to configure properly, but you *will* save euro.addendum: i forgot to mention keyboard shortcuts are available for the common functions in addition to the context menu, but changing channels using the keyboard is frustrating. active channels are placed consecutively in a list starting with number 1 and that is the number you enter, not the tv channel number. since not all channels are active, the numbers won't agree. to watch channel 95 i have to type in 57. (i believe this is true of all christv versions.)addendum 2: even after declining to install the relevant knowledge spyware, immediately after installation the rkverify.exe process was running in memory. after rebooting and restarting christv, the process was gone and the file could not located on the computer. i did, however, find it inside of the christv installation file in the rk folder. i seriously question why this file was running, if only one time, since rk was declined during installation. this would explain why some people are getting av alerts when installing christv lite.one final complaint: a "nag" line is annoyingly displayed across the top of the screen each time the program is started and remains there until the channel is changed.my rating of christv lite is 0 stars.

granted a good programmer can write good code. but structured programming from the basic world is no longer adapted for object oriented programming. unless i am unfortunate but what i have seen is that developers used to the structured programing approach don't transition well to oop. the old habits which have some remnants in syntax and style are minor. the abuse of broad scoping in variables, & method is already more annoying. the tendency of designing a class as a "module" which results in a monolithic class "do everything", the lack of encapsulation, the little use of inheritance (if ever), etc. are clearly a maintenance burden. even though a class designed in a "basic" way of thinking fulfills perfectly the requirements. the only problem is a higher maintenance effort.even an excellent implementation of basic will be subject to subtle side effects and will suffer some difficulties to cope with specs change. because it doesn't have the facilities of abstraction, inheritance, polymorphism, etc. that oop provides.and as unbelievable as it could appears, i know quite well basic actually (or may be too well?). i have learn oop and forced myself to think oop. writing good code that works is fine. writing robust code, side-effects free, which evolves better with lower maintenance is better achieved with oop.if you think basic can still fit your coding needs then, by all means use it. the comments below are pretty much similar to what i used to get from "old school" senior developers. i have no trouble of people getting the job done. but in a team working with oop language and some developers still think the "basic" way, that hinders the team efforts and set bad example for junior developers.

it seems to do what it says, hard to tell since i don't have anything to detect but i did run it. unlike a previous reviewer i noticed in the description that it expires in 10 days so that would be foolish for me to use that as a negative feature on a review.

as an i.t. person, i don't recommend this tool. the results are ambiguous at best. results that it recommends to be removed shouldn't be and many of them are not commented on as to why.very destructive to a system if you know not what you are doing.highly recommend either creating a system restore or other form of system back up prior to using this tool.i do see hope for something like this. recovery options for this tool are high recommended.
